Meet Our Founders
Tony Danker
Co-founder
Tony has spent his career thinking about and working to improve economic growth in the UK and around the world.
He served as a policy Special Adviser in the Gordon Brown UK Government within HM Treasury and the Cabinet Office, covering economic policy, fiscal policy and public services. He spent ten years at McKinsey and Company in London and Washington DC. He then founded a new public body, Be the Business, to tackle UK productivity and he was CEO of the Confederation of British Industry between 2020 and 2023.
Tony uses his experience of working with both government leaders as well as CEOs and Chairs of global companies to identify genuine win wins. He encourages clients to think more expansively and courageously about the role they could play in some of society’s biggest problems and sees opportunity where others see threat.
Helen Puddefoot
Co-founder
Helen has spent her career working on big, intractable problems, whether at McKinsey and Company, Comic Relief where she ran the Red Nose Day and Sport Relief campaigns, the Department for Education where she was appointed as one of the first PADs (policy advisors to ministers) or at Be the Business as COO.
Helen is a highly experienced strategist and has developed winning strategies for companies across the private, public and third sectors. She brings clarity and simplicity to knotty and complex problems, always with an eye to implementation.
Helen is fascinated by how to effectively bring people together in common cause. She builds humanity into a rigorous and logical approach to strategic thinking to come up with solutions that work for real people doing difficult things.
